There is no uniform practices exist for follow up of previously treated patient of Gynaecological cancer. Traditionally hospital led follow ups have continued for 5- 10 years irrespective of type and stage of cancer. It is becoming now clearer that this does not prolong survival or improve quality of life but increases medical intervention. So all early stage cancer should have a patient initiated follow up where patient report to the specialist nurses or their doctors if they develop any symptoms. However this is not suitable for advanced stage cancer, recurrent cancer or rare type of cancer.
